HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationRESOLUTION NO.: A RESOLUTION OF THE CIVILIAN INVESTIGATIVE PANEL ("CIP") RECOMMENDING TO THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION THE ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION REQUIRING THE CITY OF MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE NOTICE TO THE CIP WITHIN TWENTY-FOUR (24) HOURS OF EACH INCIDENT WHERE A CITY OF MIAMI POLICE OFFICER SHOOTS AN INDIVIDUAL WITH HIS OR HER FIREARM. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Police Department provides notice to various entities whenever a City of Miami police officer shoots an individual with his or her firearm; and WHEREAS, the Civilian Investigative Panel ("CIP") has requested the City of Miami Police Department to provide the CIP notice within twenty-four (24) hours of each incident where a City of Miami police officer shoots and individual with his or her firearm, but said request has been refused; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT: 1, The Civilian Investigative Panel hereby recommends to the Miami City Commission the adoption of a resolution requiring the City of Miami Police Department to provide notice to the CIP within twenty-four (24) hours of each instance where a City of Miami police officer shoots an individual with his or her firearm.
