HomeMy WebLinkAboutSubmittal ProposalProposed Placement & Renderings — Cuban Museum Project at Robert King
High Park
Backup information:
• There are no deed restrictions that would prevent the siting of the Cuban Museum in
Robert King High Park.
• However, there are capital improvements planned in the park that are in direct
conflict with the proposed museum.
• These Robert King High Park improvements (including playground equipment, park
community/recreation building improvements/expansion, sports turf,
irrigation/landscaping, court upgrades, and site furnishings) were included in
November 2001 Homeland Defense Neighborhood Improvement Bond approved by
voters.
• The design of the capital improvements began over two years ago and construction
will begin in two months.
• $213,930 has been spent to date for the design.
• A graphic of improvements is attached.
Required direction from Commission:
• To relocate the community/recreation building to accommodate the Cuban Museum.
• To address added parking requirements for the museum.
• To incur additional costs for redesign of the CIP plans.
• To relocate or eliminate basketball and tennis courts or other proposed improvements.
• Bring the project back before the Homeland Defense Neighborhood Improvement
Bond Oversight Board.
