A) Serve the requirements of the population upon which it will impact: Miami is a geographically small but
densely populated urban area with a significant proportion of residents who are vulnerable and disadvantaged, as
detailed in the application. Because of the high poverty, many residents rely on MFR for their basic medical
needs, which makes us one of the busiest EMS agencies in the country. This grant will allow MFR to better meet
our Mission to "Serve the Citizens of Miami in a professional manner by providing rapid emergency response and
other services to save lives and protect property." Our patients will be served well by increased skills proficiency
of our EMS personnel.
B) Enable emergency vehicles and their staff to conform to state standards established by law or rule of
the department: Covered in Florida Statute 401 and Chapter 64E-2.003.
C) Enable the vehicles of your organization to contain at least the minimum equipment and supplies as
required by law, rule or regulation: Covered in Florida Statute 401 and Chapter 64E-2.003
D) Enable the vehicles of your organization to have, at a minimum, a direct communications linkup with
the operating base and hospital designated as the primary receiving facility. N/A
E) Enable your organization to improve or expand the provision of:
1) EMS services on a county, multi county, or area wide basis: The acquisition of a Manikin and
improved training of the personnel will impact the services delivery throughout the city.
2) Single EMS provider or coordinated methods of delivering services: Providing training to our
EMS personnel will ensure a properly trained staff responding to the emergencies of this community. At
the same time, it raises MFRs' quality of service resulting in better patient care.
3) Coordination of all EMS communication links, with police, fire, emergency vehicles, and other
related services: Improving patient assessment and treatment skills of our personnel will allow MFR to
work more seamlessly with area hospitals, EMS agencies and police in patient care. In addition we can.
anticipate improved patient assessment and treatments skills to be an intricate part of and improving our
medical care when responding with our local police department on Cardiac Arrest calls and on mutual
aid calls with the other county Fire -Rescue and police departments.
