A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW
SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "STATE OF FLORIDA EMS MATCHING
GRANT M5091 AWARD (FISCAL YEAR 2005-2006) FUND," AND
APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION OF SAME, TO SUPPORT THE
PRE -HOSPITAL ACTIVITIES AND OTHER EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
ITEMS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $66,619, CONSISTING OF A GRANT, IN THE
AMOUNT OF $50,189, FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
HEALTH, BUREAU OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ("EMS"), "FLORIDA
EMS GRANT PROGRAM FOR EMS ORGANIZATIONS," WITH REQUIRED
MATCHING FUNDS FROM THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY"), IN THE AMOUNT NOT
TO EXCEED $16,730; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE CITY'S SPECIAL
REVENUE FUNDS, PROJECT NO. 105000.280502, FRANCHISE TAX RESCUE
SERVICES, FOR THE PERIOD BEGINNING MAY 23, 2005 THROUGH JUNE 30,
2006; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY
DOCUMENTSMANAGEMENTADMINISTRATOR
AND THE CITY ATTORNEY TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF AND
COMPLIANCE WITH SAID GRANT.
WHEREAS, in its effort to continue to excel in life safety, and to prepare future emergency rescue
personnel the Department of Fire -Rescue continually attempts to provide sufficient and adequate
training for their emergency medical services ("EMS") personnel; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant, in the amount of $50,189, for the
period beginning May 23, 2005, from the State of Florida Department of Health, Bureau of EMS, which,
pursuant to §401.113, Florida Statutes, provides grants to increase its existing levels of EMS to expand
and continue pre -hospital activities and other EMS items; and
WHEREAS, matching funds from the City, in the amount of $16,730, are required as a condition of
said grant, and are available from the City's Special Revenue Funds, Project No. 105000.280502,
Franchise Tax Rescue Services; and
WHEREAS, as stipulated in the grant award, the Department of Fire -Rescue will use said funds to
purchase one SimMan patient simulator and to provide hands on training to all Fire -Rescue
paramedics and emergency medical technicians and expenses related thereto; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate dommission to implement and toorize comphe City Manager o y with said g antt and to

grant, to execute any necessary documents to
establish a special revenue fund for the appropriation of said grant award;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by

reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are
appropriated as described below:

Section 3. This appropriation is contingent upon final grant approval by the State of Florida
Department of Health, Bureau of EMS and the City Manager's acceptance thereof.
