ADDITIONAL SERVICES
The additional services shall consist of the installation of approximately 60
retrofitting devices including all labor, material and equipment necessary to remove
and dispose sediment debris and material collected inside the catch basins and
installing horizontal grates and leaf collection baskets and including all surface
restoration. This additional work will take place in the Overtown and Allapattah
Market Place areas.
The initiative of the project is to implement a pilot program by installing in every
storm sewer system that is directly contributing to the waters of the state through a
positive outfall system. The retrofitting devices will prevent trash and debris from
entering the storm sewer systems as part of the City's Total Maximum Daily Load
(TMDL) program. The retrofitting devices are installed in type "F-3" catch basins
and are currently being monitor by our department for future data to be used on this
mandatory statewide environmental program. This contract increase of will allow us
to have different areas within the City, such as Overtown and Allapattah Market
Place, contributing to the data needed to implement the TMDL program by showing
a decrease in pollutant loading into the Biscayne Bay.
