The King Mango Strut is produced by King Mango Strut, Inc., a registered not -for -
profit corporation with the State of Florida. All the people involved with the King
Mango are volunteers (Mangoheads.) We have no corporate sponsors. We do not
allow advertising an floats, vehicles or banners. No salaries are paid to anyone. No
one in the Strut receives any fees for administrative services.
Most groups pay for their own group's supplies, props and costumes, however, King
Mango pays for some expenses such as materials for banners, sound staging,
equipment rentals, bands, barricades, insurance, posters and t-shirts produced for
selling. The King Mango's greatest resource is the ability to get goods and services
donated towards the strut such as trucks, trailers, generators, and bands to play
for free or almost free during the parade. King Mango also receives discounts
toward costumes, materials and printing.

The City of Miami, individuals and local businesses have always helped with enough
money and services to produce the Strut, Fees and costs for services (about
$7,500) required by the City of Miami make up a fourth of the parade's budget.
The City of Miami, by grants and/or waiving city fees and cost for services, has
become the King Mango's biggest contributor.
King Mango received about $5,000 from local businesses and individuals to offset
parade costs for the 2004 Strut. Almost half of the money was donated by
CocoWalk. Also, the 5trutter's raised $5,000 selling tickets to a drawing for goods
and services donated by local businesses and King Mango memorabilia. With the
money raised from the drawing, we were able to add a second sound stage, a DJ and
an emcee by CocoWalk in the corner of Main/Grand/MacFarlane. T-shirts, posters
and video sales netted about $2,500 after costs.
The King Mango Strut is not a moneymaking business. It never will be. We do not
sell tickets to view the parade. Proceeds of the event do not go to a charity -
there are no proceeds. If there is any money leftover, it goes towards the
following year's Strut (less money we have to beg for.)
