A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION PURSUANT TO SECTIONS
2-1251 AND 54-341(C) AND (E) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA,
AS AMENDED ("CODE"), WAIVING THE TWO EVENTS PER MONTH
RESTRICTION FOR EVENTS OCCURRING IN THE COCONUT GROVE SPECIAL
EVENTS DISTRICT DURING JANUARY, 2006; FURTHER AUTHORIZING AND
DIRECTING THE DEPARTMENT OF OFF-STREET PARKING TO EXECUTE ANY
NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, FOR SAID PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Sections 2-1251 and 54-341(c) and (e) of the Code of the City of Miami,
Florida, as amended ("Code"), due to delays caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma, the Special
Events Committee and the Executive Committee of the Coconut Grove Business Improvement
Committee ("BIC") on December 2, 2005 and the Special Events Committee of the BIC on December
13, 2005, voted to recommend to the Miami City Commission to waive the two events per month
restriction to allow four events planned or rescheduled to occur in Coconut Grove during January,
2006: the Fido & Friends Walk, the Lou Gehrigs Disease 10k-5k, the Great Taste of the Grove, and
the ING Miami Marathon and Half Marathon; and
WHEREAS, Sections 2-1252, 35-221 and 54-343 of the Code, the Department of Off -Street
Parking ("DOSP") is presently assisting the BIC with administrative matters;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Pursuant to Sections 2-1251 and 54-341(c) and (e) of the Code, the waiving of the two
events per month restriction for events occurring in the Coconut Grove Special Events District during
January, 2006 is authorized.
Section 3. DOSP is further authorized and directed to execute any necessary documents for said
purposes.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1}
Footnotes:
{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
