Director 1 City Man Page 1 of 2 SLIP UTILITY PEDESTALS FOR DINNER KEY MARINA AND MIAMARINA The City of Miami Dinner Key Marina and Miamarina suffered extensive damage as a result of Hurricane Wilma, particularly to those facilities' slip utility pedestals, electrical power transformers, and fire suppression stations. This equipment provides electrical, water, telephone and CATV services to over seven hundred customers' vessels at both marinas. Equally as important, the fire alarm pull boxes, fire hoses and extinguishers on the docks were knocked down or damaged during the storm posing a safety hazard. In order to repair this vital infrastructure and return basic utility and fire suppression services to many of the over seven hundred customers at both marinas, it is necessary to purchase replacement parts from Marina Power, Inc., the company that manufactured and provided the original pedestals, components and fire suppression stations at both marinas. This company is the sole provider of this equipment and replacement components. The project cost of this emergency purchase to replace or repair the equipment at both facilities is $62,412.
