Thompson City Clerk Date: December 1, 2005 Subject: Code Enforcement Board References: December 15, 2005 Agenda Enclosures: List of members The Code Enforcement Board was created to issue orders having the force of law commanding whatever steps are necessary to bring a Code violation into compliance. Florida Statutes Section 162.05(2) requires members of the Code Enforcement Board to be residents of the City of Miami. City Code Section 2-812 states that whenever possible, the board is to consist of an architect, a businessperson, an engineer, a general contractor, a subcontractor, and a realtor. Six appointments are needed at this time for four members who have exceeded the number of absences allowed per City Code and two vacancies: • Vice Chairman Gonzalez has one nomination for regular seat currently held by Richard Tapia (6 absences in 2005). • Commissioner Winton has one nomination for regular seat currently vacant because Michael Gongora resigned. • Chairman Sanchez has one nomination for regular seat currently held by Manuel Chamizo (15 absences in 2005). • Commissioner Spence -Jones has one nomination for regular seat currently held by James Moss (5 absences in 2005). • The Commission At Large has two appointments for alternate seats: 1. Currently held by John Jones (8 absences in 2005). 2. Currently vacant because Hugh Ryan was appointed by Commissioner Regalado as a regular member. For your convenience, we have included a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the December 15, 2005 Commission agenda. This matter was deferred from the November 3, 2005 Commission Meeting.
