HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-05-0743City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-05-0743 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 05-01476 Final Action Date: 12/15/2005 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDING TO THE STATE OF FLORIDA, DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES, DIVISION OF FORESTRY, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $75,000, FOR REPLANTING, REFORESTING AND/OR REPLACING OF TREES THAT WERE DAMAGED AND/OR DESTROYED IN THE CITY OF MIAMI DUE TO HURRICANES FRANCES AND JEANNE ("PROJECT"); AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS FOR TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT (25%) OF THE PROJECT, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $18,750, FROM THE PUBLIC WORKS GENERAL ACCOUNT NO. 001000.311003.6.340; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, FOR THE SUBMISSION OF SAID GRANT APPLICATION, SUBJECT TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SAID GRANT APPLICATION. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") Department of Public Works is requesting funding from the State of Florida, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Forestry ("Forestry"), for replanting, reforesting and/or replacing trees that were damaged and/or destroyed in the City due to Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne ("Project"); and WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the Project is $93,750; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to apply for grant funding from Forestry for the Project, in the amount of $75,000, to be matched by the required twenty-five percent (25%) of City funds; and WHEREAS, the City will enter into an Urban and Community Forestry Grant Memorandum of Agreement between the City and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to submit an application for grant funding to Forestry, in an amount not to exceed $75,000, for the Project. Section 3. The allocation of required matching funds for twenty-five percent (25%) of the Project, in an amount not to exceed $18,750, from the Public Works General Account No. 001000.311003.6.340, is authorized. Section 4. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute the necessary documents, for the submission of said grant application, subject to the terms and conditions of said grant application.
