Thompson City Clerk Date: September 28, 2005 Subject: Code Enforcement Board References: October 27, 2005 Agenda Enclosures: List of members The Code Enforcement Board was created to issue orders having the force of law commanding whatever steps are necessary to bring a Code violation into compliance. Florida Statutes Section 162.05(2) requires members of the Code Enforcement Board to be residents of the City of Miami. City Code Section 2-812 states that whenever possible, the board is to consist of an architect, a businessperson, an engineer, a general contractor, a subcontractor, and a realtor. Five appointments are needed at this time for members who have exceeded the number of absences allowed per City Code and one vacancy: • Vice Chairman Gonzalez has one nomination for regular seat currently held by Richard Tapia (6 absences in 2005). • Commissioner Winton has one nomination for regular seat currently vacant because Michael Gongora resigned. • Chairman Sanchez has one nomination for regular seat currently held by Manuel Chamizo (13 absences in 2005). • Commissioner Regalado has one nomination for regular seat currently held by Milagros Loyal (8 absences in 2005). • Commissioner Allen has one nomination for regular seat currently held by James Moss (5 absences in 2005). • The Commission At Large has one appointment for alternate seat currently held by John Jones (6 absences in 2005). For your convenience, we have included a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the October 27, 2005 Commission agenda.
