Conay, ' - ctor Department of CI ` and TransportatYon DATE: SUB ECT: September 26, 2005 FEC Corridor Neighborhood-:::: • Improvement Trust Fund REFERENCES: FILE : ENCLOSURES: Purpose of Funding Request: The Department of CIF and Transportation is requesting the amount of $1,500,297 from the City's FEC (Florida East Coast) Corridor Neighborhood Improvement Trust Fund to be made available for transportation programs and roadway improvements in accordance with the enabling legislation of the Trust Fund. Specifically, said amount is to be appropriated to the Miami Streetcar Project. The amount is to fund roadway and surface construction elements and related engineering services to accommodate the Streetcar Project within the Midtown Miami Project. The Midtown Miami Project is located within the FEC Corridor. Therefore, as required by the Trust Fund, the amount requested will be directly allocated to the promotion of neighborhood revitalization and economic development in the FEC Corridor as part of the implementation of the Miami Streetcar Project. If approved, the requested amount will be allocated as defined in the attached Exhibit "A" entitled "Roadway and Surface Construction Elements and Related Engineering Services for the Miarni Streetcar Project within the Midtown Miami Project." The expenditure is to occur in Fiscal Year 2005-06. Background Information: In accordance with Ordinance No. 12468 and Article X, Chapter 62, Section 263 of the City Code, the FEC Corridor Neighborhood Improvement Trust Fund was created to collect Floor Area Ratio (FAR) fees to be deposited in a trust fund for the implementation of the adopted FEC Corridor Strategic Redevelopment Plan. The fee for the Trust Fund is collected by the Planning Department through FAR bonus fees from development projects located in the. SD-27 Zoning District. To date, $1,500,297 has been collected.
