Subject: Award of Informal Emergency Bid for Fire Station No. 4 Roof Replacement, B-72802
Purpose of Item:
To approve the City Manager's finding of an emergency justifying the waiver of the formal
competitive procedures and authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Florida Roofing
Solutions in an amount not to exceed $177,000.00, with funds allocated from CIP No. 313302 from
the Fire Fee Fund.
Background Information:
An emergency informal bid was issued by Capital Improvements & Transportation (CIT) September
15, 2005 for the replacement of the roofing system at Fire Station No. 4, and on September 23, 2005.
Three bids were received. The emergency was based on continuing deterioration of the roofing
system which adversely impacts the interior and exterior of the facility as stated in the attached
emergency finding memorandum. The lowest bidder, who is being recommended for award, is
$107,000 less than the previous bid. Award of this contract will allow the City to expedite the
replacement of the roofing system.
