A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING A GRANT
AWARD FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, IN THE AMOUNT
OF $50,000, TO PROVIDE SERVICES FOR THE PAC SUCCESS ACADEMY,
LOCATED IN MIAMI, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF
SAID GRANT AWARD.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant, in the amount of $50,000, from
the Florida Department of Education ("FLDOE"), for the funding of The PAC Success Academy,
located in Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the PAC Success Academy is comprised of a cooperative effort between the City's
Office of the Mayor, the City's Department of Parks and Recreation, the Miami -Dade County Public
Schools and local community -based organizations, for its successful implementation; and
WHEREAS, the goals of the PAC Success Academy are to support family literacy levels, parental
involvement and decrease involvement in behavior that may put children at risk; and
WHEREAS, the City must execute a contract with the FLDOE to accept the appropriation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and finding found in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this section.
Section 2. A grant award from the FLDOE, in the amount of $50,000, to provide services for the
PAC Success Academy, located in Miami, Florida, is accepted.
Section 3. The City Manger is authorized{1} to execute the necessary documents to implement
acceptance of said grant award.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
