HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-05-0609City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-05-0609 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 05-01062 Final Action Date: 11/3/2005 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ACCEPTING THE TRAFFIC CALMING STUDIES FOR THE SILVER BLUFF AND SHENANDOAH NEIGHBORHOODS, DATED MAY 25, 2005, PREPARED BY MARLIN ENGINEERING, INC.; RECOMMENDING THAT THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS APPROVE THE FINDINGS, MEASURES AND LOCATIONS CONTAINED THEREIN; FURTHER DIRECTING THE DEPARTMENT OF CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS AND TRANSPORTATION TO PREPARE A PLAN OF ACTION FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT(S) ONCE FUNDS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED. WHEREAS, at the request of the Silver Bluff and Shenandoah Neighborhoods ("Neighborhoods"), the Department of Capital Improvements and Transportation secured the services of Marlin Engineering, Inc., ("Engineers") to perform traffic/calming studies for the Neighborhoods, as well as other areas of the City of Miami; and WHEREAS, the Engineers collected existing traffic information, land use and transit data to address area -wide traffic conditions and public concerns about residential streets in the Neighborhoods; and WHEREAS, the Engineers prepared the attached studies, entitled "The Silver Bluff Traffic Calming Study" and "The Shenandoah Traffic Calming Study," both dated May 25, 2005; and WHEREAS, both studies identify critical intersections and roadway segments that warrant mitigation, and the prioritization and alternative analysis for mitigation measures; and WHEREAS, both studies recommend traffic calming devices at specified locations; and WHEREAS, the Department of Capital Improvements and Transportation desires to implement the recommendations of these studies and requires the approval of the Miami -Dade County Department of Public Works in order to do so; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporates as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Traffic Calming Studies, dated May 25, 2005, for the Neighborhoods, prepared by Marlin Engineering, Inc., are accepted. Section 3. The City Commission recommends that the Miami -Dade County Department of Public Works approve the findings, measures and locations contained in the studies. The Department of Capital Improvements and Transportation is directed to prepare a plan of action for the implementation of the project, once funds have been identified. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1} Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
