These funds are to be allocated towards the City of Miami Department of Public Facilities project, "BAYWASH 2005" a clean-up Miami Project. The City will provide a dollar for dollar match, not to exceed $15,000 from the City's non -departmental account. Background Information: Due to Hurricane Katrina and other storms that have hit the Miami area in recent months, numerous boats have been abandoned or become derelict either in the waterways or on the spoil islands. In addition, much debris has accumulated on these island and other City shorelines. As an extension of the City's Clean up Miami Project, the City has a need to remove such vessels and debris in order to improve the quality of life for all its residents and visitors. Miami -Dade County Commissioner Gimenez is designating $15,000 from his office account to the City of Miami Department of Public Facilities. These funds are to be allocated for a designated project associated with the Baywash clean up, with the stipulation that the City will match with an equal amount from it's own funds.
