Subject: Donation of Horse "Jets Bullet:
Purpose of Item:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution classifying
the thoroughbred horse known as "Jets Bullet" as surplus stock. After determining that the horse "Jets
Bullet" requires extensive veterinarian treatment, it is no longer beneficial to the City of Miami to
utilize him for active duty. The Department of Police Mounted Patrol Unit has found a suitable
retirement farm in Tennessee, at no cost to the city.
Background Information:
The horse "Jets Bullet" has served the City of Miami with distinction for approximately five years.
"Jets Bullet" has become lame and requires extensive veternarian treatment. A good home has been
located for the horse on a retirement farm in Tennessee, which is owned and operated by retired
Miami Police Officer Brenda Watkins. The recipient of the horse will be responsible for all costs and
arrangements in transporting the horse to Tennessee. The original donor of "Jets Bullet" has signed an
unconditional release allowing the City to find him a suitable home for retirement. There is no
monetary value/loss associated with this donation as the horse was donated to the city.
