HomeMy WebLinkAboutMemoTO : FROM John F. Timoney Chief of Police (Through Chanpel Lt. David Mag sson Commander Patrol Support Unit CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM Ar ';: August 12, 2005 SURJE CT Horse Retirement ,,. REFERENCES : f; ENCLOSURES: FILE_ : I am requesting to have a horse retired from the Mounted Unit that has become lame and requires extensive veterinarian treatment to maintain him in working condition. His name is "Bullet" and he has served the City of Miami with distinction for approximately 5 good years. Unfortunately it has become no longer beneficial to the city or fair to the horse to continue to utilize him in his physical condition. I have located a good home for Bullet on a retirement farm in Tennessee, which is owned and operated by a retired Miami officer and will be ideal for a horse in his condition. The recipient would be responsible for all arrangements to transport Bullet to Tennessee. It is the procedure of the Mounted Unit to attempt to contact the original donor to request permission to retire the horse and to offer right of first refusal. Attached you will find a copy on file of the original donors agreement with the city which states their desire to not have the horse returned to them. This retirement will also free a stall so that we may look for a new healthy donation. Your consideration in this matter would be greatly appreciated. If you require further information regarding this matter, please contact me at extension 6181 or (305) 308-7858. DM:dm Office of Inc Ohief of Po$ici Miami, Fla AUG 22 2005 RECEIVED
