HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www,cl.miami.fl.us File Number: 05-01061 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "STATE OF FLORIDA EMS MATCHING GRANT M5092 AWARD (FISCAL YEAR 2005-2006) FUND," AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION OF SAME, TO SUPPORT THE PRE -HOSPITAL ACTIVITIES AND OTHER EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ITEMS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $240,000, CONSISTING OF A GRANT, IN THE AMOUNT OF $180,000, FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, BUREAU OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES ("EMS"), "FLORIDA EMS GRANT PROGRAM FOR EMS ORGANIZATIONS," WITH REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS FROM THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY"), IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $60,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE CITY'S SPECIAL REVENUE FUNDS, PROJECT NO. 110109.280218, ANTI -TERRORISM GRANT, FOR THE PERIOD BEGINNING MAY 23, 2005 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2006; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF AND COMPLIANCE WITH SAID GRANT. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant, in the amount of $180,000, for the period beginning May 23, 2005, from the State of Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services ("EMS"), which, pursuant to §401.113, Florida Statutes, provides grants to increase its existing levels of emergency medical services to expand and continue pre -hospital activities and other emergency medical services items; and WHEREAS, matching funds from the City, in the amount of $60,000, are required as a condition of said grant and are available from the City's Special Revenue Funds, Project No. 110109.280218, Anti -Terrorism Grant; and WHEREAS, as stipulated in the grant award, the Department of Fire -Rescue will use said funds to implement and acquire thirty-four (34) wireless data collection devices; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to accept said grant , to execute any necessary documents to implement and to comply with said grant, and to establish a special revenue fund for the appropriation of said grant award; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are appropriated as described below: City of Miami Page I of 2 Printed On: 10/14/2005 File Number: 05-01061 FUND TITLE: State of Florida Matching Grant M5092 Award (Fiscal Year 2005-2006) RESOURCES: State of Florida Department of Health, Bureau of EMS, Florida EMS Grant Program for EMS Organizations $180,000 City's Matching Grant from Special Revenue Funds, Anti -Terrorism Grant Project No. 110109.280218 $ 80,000 APPROPRIATIONS: $240,000 Section 3. This appropriation is contingent upon final grant approval by the State of Florida Department of Health, Bureau of EMS and the City Manager's acceptance thereof. Section 4. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute the necessary documents to implement acceptance of and compliance with said grant. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
