A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW
SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED: "FISCAL YEAR 2005 EDWARD BYRNE
MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) PROGRAM," AND
APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION OF SAME, FROM THE UNITED
STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS,
BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT AWARD NO. 2005-DJ-BX-0650, IN
THE AMOUNT OF $751,877; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT
SAID GRANT AND TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TO
IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF AND COMPLIANCE WITH SAID GRANT.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant, in the amount of $751,877, for
funding various law enforcement operations in the Department of Police; and
WHEREAS, said funds will be used by the Department of Police to fund initiatives including:
technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support and information
systems for criminal justice programs; and
WHEREAS, said grant is awarded for a federal budget period and project period of four years,
beginning October 1, 2004 through September 30, 2008; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Manager to accept said grant, to execute any necessary
documents to implement and to comply with said grant, and to establish a special revenue fund for the
appropriation of said grant award;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are
appropriated as described below:

Section 2. The City Manager is authorized{1} to accept said grant and to execute the necessary
documents to implement acceptance of and compliance with said grant.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor. {2}

Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed
by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
