HomeMy WebLinkAboutSummary Fact SheetAGENDA ITEM SUMMARY FORM FILE ID: Date: 8/19/2005 Commission Meeting Date: 9/22/2005 Requesting Department: Police District Impacted: All Type: ® Resolution [ Ordinance Emergency Ordinance n Discussion Item ❑ Other Subject: Uniforms and Accessories for Police Purpose of Item: The nature of this item is to amend Resolution No. 04-335 adopted May 27, 2004, as amended, accepting the bids of Martin's Lamar Uniforms, for Group 1 (changing Alternate Bid to Base Bid) and Harrison Uniforms, for Groups 2 through 9, for the provision of Uniforms and Accessories for the Department of Police for a one- year period, with the option to renew for two (2) additional one-year periods, at a first year annual amount not to exceed $950,000, subject to an increase of 4% for Martin's Lamar Uniform for each year thereafter, and an incease of 6% for Harrison Uniforms for each year thereafter; allocating funds from the department of Police General Operating Budget, Account Code No. 001000.290201.6.075. Background Information: The Police Department has determined that the uniforms awarded under Group 1 (Alternate Bid), does not meet their requirements; specifically as it relates to the garments fabric quality and design. The Police Department has had the opportunity throughout the first year of the contract, to utilize the items under the Alternate Bid; however, the items have proven not to meet their standard for quality and style. This amendment to the resolution will allow the Police Department to purchase better quality uniform items under the Base Bid with a savings on the overall unit prices as compared to the Alternate Bid submitted by Martin's Lamar Uniforms for Group 1, pursuant to Bid No. 03-04-009.
