Director er AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY FORM (CONTINUED) Background Information: The Police Department will establish a Civil Citation Program aimed at elementary, middle and high school students, ages 10 - 17. The goal is to assist first-time youth offenders in addressing issues related to their conducts. The program will provide a comprehensive intervention technique to prevent first-time offenders' future arrests. It also prevents juveniles' involvement in criminal activity while improving behaviors and attitudes. Grant funds will provide counseling, educational support, life skills training, and community services/learning experiences to first time offenders and/or their families. The grant funding will pay for officers' overtime ($28,844), a contracted License Clinical Social Worker ($10,320), equipment and program operating expenses ($8,336), 5% program indirect cost ($2,500). The City will provide in -kind contribution services of Police Officers ($8,500), and a contracted Licensed Clinical Social Worker ($1,500). The grant is for a period of one-year, from July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006.
