by me aepanment." The annualized wage rate during the academy and until the Stale certification exam is passed is
531,555. Applicants will be hired in the classrfcarion of Police Offcer•Probalronary ((Dec. Code 5003), and upon
successlul complelion of the academy and the slate examination will be promoted to the classification of Police Officer
(Dec. Code 5005)
Starling Salary $35,189 annually Maximum Salary $48.578 annually

6 Tobacco Usage, In accordance with Article 35 of the fraternal order of Police (FOP) labor agreement,
newly hired law enforcement officers must refrain from tobacco usage on or off duty,

APPLICANTS SHALL SUBMIT TO A TOXICOLOGY SCREEN AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE AT A
COST OF S30.00, THOUGH COST rS SUBJECT TO CHANGE IF THE RESuLTS ARE
NEGATIVE, THE CITY SHALL REIMBURSE APPLICANTS FOR THE COST OF THE SCREEN IF
THE RESULTS ARE POSITIVE, THE APPLICANT WILL ASSUME THE COST, 1NCLuoiNG THAT
OF ANY TEST CONFIRMATION.
Eligible applhcanls will be required to pass a written, entry level exam that may consist of

and JudgmenUDecision•making via wrdlen slirnuli and 3) Protective Services Profile. All
applicants will be issued Candidale Preparation, Physical Agility. and Self -Study Tips
Manuals al the lime of application to assist in preparing for the examination components.
Applicants who look the October 2004 exam must wail for the next recruitment.
EXAMINATION TRAfNING: On a fnsl•come, first serve basis, an optional training program will be available to
candidates for the purpose of providing addilionaf lest preparalion A prerequisite for
