Thompson City Clerk Date: August 18, 2005 Subject: Overtown Advisory Board References: September 8, 2005 Agenda Enclosures: List of members The Overtown Advisory Board (OAB) was created to encourage and support historic preservation and provide recommendations to the City Commission regarding all City funded or assisted activities, developments, or improvements within the Overtown area. An election was scheduled for August 25, 2005 for six seats on the OAB, which terms will expire on September 14, 2005. The election was cancelled because two individuals qualified as candidates for six seats. Said candidates, listed below, are unopposed and are thereby declared winners: 1. Charles J. Flowers, Ph.D 2. Rosa Green Pursuant to Miami Code Section 2-105, the City Commission at large has to ratify the elected individuals to be appointed as members of the Overtown Advisory Board. Our office will hold another election to fill the remaining four seats with terms that will expire on September 14, 2005. For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current board membership. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to schedule this item on the September 8, 2005 Commission Agenda as a consent agenda item.
