Subject: Joint Participation Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") for the
Miami Streetcar Project
Purpose of Item:
Authorizing the City Manager to execute a Joint Participation Agreement ("JPA"), in substantially the
attached form, with the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") for the Miami Streetcar
Project ("Project"), Capital Improvement Project No. 341330, B-71215, The JPA provides for
contribution of FDOT State funds in an amount not to Exceed $2,790,000 for Alternatives Analysis,
environmental documentation, preliminary engineering and program/project management for the
Project.
Background Information:
The City Commission approved Resolution No. 05-0293 on May 12, 2005 adopted the "City of
Miami Initial Streetcar Corridor Feasibility Study" ("Study") and authorized the City Manager to
begin the initial implementation of the Study recommendations. The City of Miami ("City") secured
funding commitment from FDOT in the amount of $2,790,000 to advance the initial implementation
of the Study as directed by the City Commission.
