A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE IN THE CONTRACT AWARDED TO MOTOROLA
INC., PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION NO. 04-0730, ADOPTED NOVEMBER 18,
2004, FOR THE PURCHASE OF ADDITIONAL PORTABLE AND MOBILE RADIOS
AND ACCESSORIES, FOR THE DEPARTMENTS OF FIRE -RESCUE AND PUBLIC
WORKS, UTILIZING PALM BEACH COUNTY CONTRACT NO. 02C-6CR,
EFFECTIVE THROUGH OCTOBER 17, 2005, SUBJECT TO ANY EXTENSIONS OR
REPLACEMENT CONTRACTS BY PALM BEACH COUNTY, IN AN AMOUNT NOT
TO EXCEED $235,777.80, INCREASING THE CONTRACT FROM $56,244 TO
$292,021.80; ALLOCATING FUNDS FOR SAID INCREASE, FROM THE URBAN
AREAS SECURITY INITIATIVE GRANT PROGRAMS II AND III, ACCOUNT CODE
NO. 110111.280910.6.840, IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $32,552, FROM
ACCOUNT NO. 1100143.280911.6.840, IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$154,959 AND FROM PUBLIC WORKS ACCOUNT NO. 001000.311002.6.840, IN
THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $48,266.80; AMENDING RESOLUTION NO.
04-0730, TO REFLECT SAID INCREASE AND THE ADDITION OF THE
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AS RECIPIENTS OF SAID RADIOS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 04-0730, adopted November 18, 2004, the Miami City
Commission approved the purchase of forty (40) portable and mobile radios and accessories from
Motorola, Inc., for the City of Miami's ("City's") Department of Fire -Rescue, utilizing Palm Beach
County Contract No. 02C-6CR, effective through October 17, 2005, subject to any extensions or
replacement contracts from Palm Beach County, in an amount not to exceed $56,244, with funds
allocated from the Urban Areas Security Initiative ("UASI") Grant Program II, Project No. 110111,
Account Code No. 280910.6.840; and
WHEREAS, since its initial award, the City's Department of Fire -Rescue has determined
additional portable and mobile radios and accessories are required to increase the emergency
interoperable communication gap within the City's Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, in an effort to improve public safety interoperability the additional radio equipment
would be used as necessary back-up for catastrophic events; and
WHEREAS, these radios and equipment will be distributed to local government officials in
emergency situations to ensure communication between these and directors to the City's Emergency
Operations Center and Emergency Manager; and
WHEREAS, twenty-three (23) radios will be used by the Department of Public Works to provide
radios for all its Operational personnel working within the Storm Water Maintenance Section and the
National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, which is the City's Environmental Section; and
WHEREAS, these radios will ensure communications connectivity and electrical interoperability

between local and interagency organizations for emergency and general flooding and environmental
functions; and
WHEREAS, to enhance the City's disaster preparedness and command and control operations, it
is necessary to increase the contract awarded with Motorola, Inc., in an amount not to exceed
$235,777.80, from $56,244 to $292,021.80, and to amend Resolution No. 04-0730, to reflect said
increase; and
WHEREAS, funds for said increase are available from the UASI Grant Programs II & III, Project
No. 110111, Account code No. 280910.6.840, in the amount not to exceed $32,552, and Project No.
110143, Account Code No. 280911.6.840, in the amount not to exceed $154,959 and from Public
Works Account Code No. 001000.3111002.6.840, in the amount not to exceed $48,266.80;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA;
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. An increase in the contact awarded to Motorola, Inc., pursuant to Resolution No. 04-
0730, adopted November 18, 2004, for the purchase of additional portable and mobile radios and
accessories, for the Departments of Fire -Rescue and Public Works, in the amount not to exceed
$235,777.80, increasing the contract from $56,244 to $292,021.80, is authorized.
Section 3. Resolution No. 04-0730, adopted November 18, 2004, is amended in the following
particulars: {1}

Section 1. The purchase of forty(40) additional portable and

Department of Fire -Rescue and Public Works, utilizing Palm Beach
County Contract No. 02C-6CR, effective through October 17, 2005,
Palm Beach County, subject to any extensions or replacement
contracts from Palm Beach County, in an amount not to exceed
$56,2/1/1 $292,021.80, is authorized, allocating funds from the Urban
Areas Security Initiative Grant Program II, Project No. 110111,
Account Code No. 280910.6.840.

Section 4. Funds, in the amount not to exceed $235,777.80, for said increase, are allocated from
the UASI Grant Programs II and III, Account Code No. 110111.280910.6.840, in the amount not to
exceed $32,552, from Account No. 1100143.280911.6.840, in the amount not to exceed $154,959
and from Public Works Account No. 001000.311002.6.840, in the amount not to exceed $48,266.80.

Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
