HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolutionCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.ci.miaml.fl.us File Number: 05-00569 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDING TO THE STATE OF FLORIDA, DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES, DIVISION OF FORESTRY, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $75,000, FOR REPLANTING, REFORESTING AND/OR REPLACING OF TREES THAT WERE DAMAGED AND/OR DESTROYED IN THE LITTLE HAITI SECTION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI DUE TO HURRICANES FRANCES AND JEANNE ("TREE PROJECT"); AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION OF REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS FOR TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT (25%) OF THE TREE PROJECT, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $18,750, FROM THE PUBLIC WORKS GENERAL ACCOUNT NO. 001000.311003.6.340; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, FOR SUBMISSION OF SAID GRANT APPLICATION, SUBJECT TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SAID GRANT APPLICATION. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") Department of Public Works is requesting funding from the State of Florida, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Forestry to replenish the tree canopy in the Little Haiti section of the City ("Tree Project"); and WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the Tree Project is $93,750; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to apply for grant funding from the State of Florida, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Forestry for the Tree Project, in the amount of $75,000, to be matched by twenty-five percent (25%) of City funds, in the amount of $18,750; and WHEREAS, the City will enter into an Urban and Community Forestry Grant Memorandum of Agreement between the City and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings found in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized{1} to submit an application for grant funding to the State of Florida, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Forestry, in an amount not to exceed $75,000, for the Tree Project. Section 3. The allocation of required matching funds for twenty-five percent (25%) of the Tree Project, in an amount not to exceed $18,750, from the Public Works General Account No. 001000.311003.6.340, is authorized. Section 4. The City Manager is further authorized{1} to execute the necessary documents, for City of Miami Page 1 of 2 Printed On: 6/10/2005 File Number: 05-00569 submission of said grant application, subject to the terms and conditions of said grant application. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{2} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS:' S Footnotes: {1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. {2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
