A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING THE
RECOMMENDATION OF THE COCONUT GROVE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT
COMMITTEE PURSUANT TO SECTION 54-343(5) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF
OFF-STREET PARKING ("DOSP") TO WAIVE THE SUPPLEMENTARY USER FEE
FOR THE 2005 GOOMBAY FESTIVAL TO BE HELD IN THE COCONUT GROVE
SPECIAL EVENTS DISTRICT, MIAMI, FLORIDA; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING
THE DOSP TO EXECUTE ANY NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR SAID PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, Section 54-343 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Code"),
requires for a supplementary user fee to be required for special events occurring in the Coconut Grove
Special Events District and for such supplementary user fee to be paid to the Department of Off -Street
Parking ("DOSP") to deposit into the Coconut Grove Special Events District Fund; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 54-343(5) of the Code, the Coconut Grove Business Improvement
Committee ("BIC") on April 30, 2005 voted to recommend to the Miami City Commission to waive the
supplementary user fee for the 2005 Goombay Festival to be held in the Coconut Grove Special
Events District;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The recommendation of the Coconut Grove BIC pursuant to Section 54-343(5) of the
City Code authorizing the DOSP to waive the supplementary user fee for the 2005 Goombay Festival
to be held in the Coconut Grove Special Events District, is accepted.
Section 3. The DOSP is authorized and directed to execute any necessary documents for said
purpose.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1}

{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. if the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
