HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolutionCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.ci.miami,fl.us File Number: 05-00330 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, ACCEPTING THE BID OF CADEX ELECTRONICS, INC., THE SECOND LOWEST RESPONSIVE AND RESPONSIBLE BIDDER, DATED JANUARY 7, 2004, PURSUANT TO INVITATION FOR BIDS NO. 03-04-011, FOR THE PROCUREMENT OF 25 CADEX C7400 BATTERY ANALYZER SYSTEMS AND ACCESSORIES, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE -RESCUE, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $58,637.50; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT NO. 313305, ENTITLED "FIRE -RESCUE HOMELAND DEFENSE PREPAREDNESS INITIATIVES" AS PROJECT NO. B-72813 UNDER THE HOMELAND DEFENSE NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT BOND PROGRAM. WHEREAS, on March 17, 2004, pursuant to Section 18-85(h) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, the City Manager authorized and approved the procurement of 20 Cadex C4700 battery analyzer systems and accessories for the Department of Fire -Rescue from Holzberg Communications, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $44,165, pursuant to Invitation for Bids ("IFB") No. 03-04-011, dated January 7, 2004; and WHEREAS, since the initial award by the City Manager, the Department of Fire -Rescue added 120 additional portable radios to service pursuant to Resolution No. 04-0183, adopted March 25, 2004 and Resolution No. 04-0730, adopted November 18, 2004; and WHEREAS, due to this increase, the Department of Fire -Rescue requires 25 additional Cadex C 4700 battery analyzer systems and accessories in an effort to improve public safety inter -operability; and WHEREAS, this proposed equipment would allow the Department of Fire -Rescue to distribute this equipment throughout the Department to ensure that every battery is not only in the proper condition, but the proper type; and WHEREAS, having this equipment readily available has proven to prolong battery life, eliminate downtime due to weak batteries, reduce battery replacement cost and increase reliability; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Fire Chief recommend an award be made to Cadex Electronics, Inc., the second lowest responsive and responsible bidder pursuant to IFB No. 03-04-011, dated January 7, 2004, including an additional discount to the City of Miami representing a $2,737.50 savings; and WHEREAS, fund for this purchase in an amount not to exceed $58,637.50, are available from Capital Improvements Project No, 313305; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA; 7 City of Miami Page 1 of 2 Printed On: 4/11 /20 05 File Number: 05-00330 Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The bid of Cadex Electronics Inc., the second lowest responsive and responsible bidder pursuant to IFB No. 03-04-011, dated January 7, 2004, for the procurement of 25 Cadex C7400 battery analyzer systems and accessories, for the Department of Fire -Rescue, in an amount not to exceed $58,637.50, is accepted, with funds allocated from Capital Improvements Project No. 313305, entitled "Fire -Rescue Homeland Defense Preparedness Initiatives" as Project No. B-72813 under the Homeland Defense Neighborhood Improvement Bond Program. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {1} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS Footnotes: {1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
