SCOTT COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000, FOR PUBLIC FACILITIES AND IMPROVEMENT ACTIVITIES, TO THE CITY OF MIAMI NEIGHBORHOOD ENHANCEMENT TEAM OFFICE THE AMOUNT OF $35,412, FOR THE RENOVATION OF THE LITTLE HAITI FREEDOM GARDEN AND TO YOUR CHEF, INC. THE AMOUNT OF $40,000, FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENTS, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM(S) WITH SAID AGENCIES. WHEREAS, the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Community Development Block Grant entitlement ("CDBG") program regulation 24 CFR 570.201(c) states that CDBG funds may be used for public facilities and improvements; and WHEREAS, the James E. Scott Community Association, Inc. ("JESCA") has requested a need for funding in the amount of $100,000 for said purpose; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") Neighborhood Enhancement Team ("NET") office has requested funding for the renovation of the Little Haiti Freedom Garden located at 62nd Street and North Miami Avenue, Miami, Florida; and WHEREAS, Your Chef, Inc. has requested CDBG funding for economic development activities for the expansion of their business, creating eight full time job opportunities for City residents; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section, Section 2. The transfer of CDBG program funds, in the total amount not to exceed $175,412, from Codec, Inc. -La Palma and the allocation of said funds to JESCA in the amount of $100,000, for public facilities and improvement activities, to the City NET office the amount of $35,412, for the renovation of the Little Haiti Freedom Garden and to Your Chef, Inc. the amount of $40,000, for economic development activities, is authorized.
