A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING A GRANT
FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN
DEVELOPMENT, IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,000,000, FOR THE MIAMI UNLEADED
PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEAR 2004-2005, TO PROVIDE A COMPREHENSIVE
APPROACH TO LEAD HAZARD CONTROL IN THE CITY OF MIAMI, BY MAKING
IT A PART OF EVERY REHABILITATION, RENOVATION, AND REPAIR UNIT
BUILT BEFORE 1978, WHERE LEAD -BASED PAINT IS PRESENT; DIRECTING
THE CITY MANAGER TO REQUEST AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY
COMMISSION TO INCREASE THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT'S TABLE OF ORGANIZATION, ADDING SIX FULL-TIME
UNCLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, TO IMPLEMENT ACCEPTANCE OF
SAID GRANT.
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development's ("U.S. HUD")
Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control has advised the City of Miami ("City") that grant
funds, in the amount of $3,000,000, have been awarded for the Miami Unleaded Program for Fiscal
Year 2004-2005;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. A grant from the U.S. HUD, in the amount of $3,000,000, for the Miami Unleaded
program for Fiscal Year 2004-2005 to provide a comprehensive approach to lead hazard control in the
City, by making it a part of every rehabilitation, renovation and repair unit built before 1978, where lead
-based paint is present, is accepted.
Section 3. The City Manager is directed to request an Ordinance of the City Commission, to
increase the Department of Community Development's Table of Organization, adding six full-time
unclassified employees.
Section 4. The City Manager is authorized(1) to execute the necessary documents, to implement
acceptance of said grant.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.(2)

Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
