Subject: Contribution to the 112th Annual Conference of the International Association of Chiefs of
Police
Purpose of Item:
A Resolution authorizing a contribution to the 112th Annual Conference of the International
Association of Chiefs of Police, to be held September 24th — 28th, 2005, at the Miami Beach
Convention Center, in an amount not to exceed $10,000, from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, as
authorized under Florida State Statute Chapter 932.7055, Project Number 690001.
Background Information:
--
The Miami Police Department is partnering with Miami -Dade and Miami Beach Police Departments,
in hosting the 112th Annual Conference of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), to
be held on September 24th - 28th, 2005. The purpose of the contribution is to initiate development of
the various training venues that will be taking place throughout the Miami -Dade County area with
economic and goodwill benefits realized by the City of Miami. This conference will bring together
approximately 14,000 law enforcement professionals from throughout the world to receive training
and interact in efforts to create bonds that will assist in future crime fighting endeavors.
