Background Information: The City Commission previously authorized execution of a Grant of Temporary Construction Easement to FP&L for the relocation of two existing high voltage electrical cables, which relocation is required due to the dredging of the south channel of the Port of Miami. The Temporary Construction Easement has expired. On January 11, 2005, the City received a request from ConsulTech Enterprises, Inc., contractor for FP&L, advising that clue to unforeseen delays in obtaining the environmental permits necessary to relocate the electrical cables, the construction of the project has not yet commenced. ConsulTech anticipates that the permits will be granted in the near future and has estimated the construction will begin in March 2005 and will be completed within a year.
