HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolutionCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.ci.miami.fl.us File Number: 05-00182 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF BENEFIT CONSULTING SERVICES AND ACTUARIAL SERVICES, FROM MERCER HUMAN RESOURCE CONSULTING, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYEE RELATIONS, UTILIZING EXISTING STATE OF FLORIDA CONTRACT NO. 973-500-03-01, EFFECTIVE UNTIL OCTOBER 14, 2005, SUBJECT TO ANY EXTENSIONS OR REPLACEMENT CONTRACTS BY THE STATE OF FLORIDA, IN A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $150,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE GENERAL OPERATING BUDGET, ACCOUNT NO. 001000.921002, 6.270. WHEREAS, the Department of Employee Relations has a need for actuarial services for in-depth analysis for two pensions systems, actuarial valuation of the City of Miami ("City") and the Fraternal Order of Police trust health plans to be in compliance with Governmental Accounting Standard Board, costing of proposed pension benefits and alternative, funding alternatives on the City pension plans and other post retirement benefits, and updates to City Administration on Federal and State laws affecting pension plans and other post retirement benefits; and WHEREAS, Mercer Human Resource Consulting has provided actuarial services to the City since 1994; and WHEREAS, said firm has historical information on the City's pensions systems and will not require any data collection and input time in order to respond to requests; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 18-111 of the City Procurement Code, the Chief Procurement Officer has made a determination that the contract was entered into pursuant to a competitive process in compliance with City laws, policies, and procedures; and WHEREAS, funding in the total amount not to exceed $150,000 for said actuarial services is allocated from the General Operating Budget, Account No. 001000.921002.6.270; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORI DA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The acquisition of benefit consulting services and actuarial services, from Mercer Human Resource Consulting, for the Department of Employee Relations, utilizing existing State of Florida Contract No. 973-500-03-01, effective until October 14, 2005, subject to any extensions or replacement contracts by the State of Florida, is authorized, in a total amount not to exceed $150,000, with funds allocated from the General Operating Budget, Account No. 001000.921002.6.270.
