Recreational Design & Construction, Inc. was founded and incorporated in 1993 by Steven Siems and Steven Westervelt. Sunset Lakes Municipal Complex City of Miramar The City of Miramar came to RDC to fast track this project through redesign, permitting and construction. The project had been designed and ready for the standard bid process. The City realized they had a facility designed that didng fit their present needs for the community. RDC placed under contract their designers and worked with the City staff to redesign the building and fast tracked their permit process. The project consist of a 32,000 sq. ft. community center, full court gym, weight room and banquet facilities w/stage. The project also has the site work and utilities for a 24 acres park, included is a opan park site for a future police and fire station. ..P9tratt A "Contact; "Low€111/9l7Borges Phone number: 1954) 967-1610 1 I�nfale-BeAch Cultural Center Riverside Park Community Center City of Fort Lauderdale Riverside Parkfs public officials and citizens wanted a community center that complemented the character of their quaint community. With that and other public input, RDC designed and built a new 3,600 square foot community center that features an old -Florida style building with hurricane -resistant concrete siding that looks like wood. A large open floor plan and it separate closed -in break room with white French doors that opens out to a large porch on both the front and back adds to the historic feel. The new center is perfect for community meetings, Ladies teas, craft classes, after school and summer camp activities. The park also got new state of the art outside lighting and three chicanes, or S-turns to slow traffic. RDC included in its design new drainage end upgraded the playground to meet ADA requirements. Commission- ers accepted RDC0 Design/Build concept and the community now enjoys a newly renovated 13,700 square foot facility that houses programs for visual and performing arts, education, special events and community socials. The building has an auditorium, three multi -purpose activity rooms, new restroorns, dressing rooms and a kitchen that any chef would be proud of. The Cltyg3 Parks and Recreation Department has relocated its Administrative Office in the Cultural Community Center. Wellington Community Center First Floor Renovations Village of Wellington The Village of Wellington change ordered an existing contract with RDC to complete their 1st floor renovations to their newly purchased County club building. The renovations included an elaborate dies and council chamber, restroom renovation, complete overhaul of the mechanical systems and fire alarm. The main challenge was the removal of structural members to allow open viewing during council meeting. All construction was achieved in a forty-five day period. RbCh design team was tasked with turning a space that was originally designed for covered parking into an ultramodern, state -cif -the -art community center. The renovation created classroom spaces, banquet facilities as well as rooms to accom- modate dances and wrestling matches. The Sunrise Tennis Center Club Park was designed by Sheldon Westervelt, a world renowned tennis facility designer. The project includes four (4) baseball ball fields, two (2) basketball courts, two 12) club tennis courts, a two story concession/ community building, two (2) tournament soccer fields, two (2) out parcel restroom buildings, a large picnic pavilion, complete site and pathway lighting, parking lot and all site amenities to compliment the park. It's not uncommon for us to receive a call from a Parks and Recreation director asking what the proper light level for a ball field is. Parks and recreation projects weVe handled range from paddleball and tennis, centers to roller hockey and inline skating rinks to asphalt jogging paths with exercise stations. Sunrise Athletic Complex City of Sunrise As a part of its " Neighborhood Renaissance" plan, The City of Sunriset goal was to rebuild and improve those older parks that havent received a major overhaul since they were built, The City recently selected RDC to construct new buildings, resurface tennis courts and provide electrical service to two of the Cityt olcdost parks: the Sunrise Athletic Complex and Welleby Park. The Sunrise Athletic Complex project included the demolition and construction of a new community building, a maintenance building, two restroom build- ings, three scoring towers, four tennis courts and ten dugouts. RDC restored the sod at all ball fields, in- stalled playground equipment and new underground electric service to sports fields, and provided roadway improvements, fencing, landscaping and various site amenities. The state-of-the-art center contains restroom facilities, office space, warehouse facilities and a community room perfect for arts and crafts classes, after -school programs and meetings. The hexagon - shaped picnic shelters range in size from 20' to 40', and four are equipped with gas grills, electricity, and water. The shaded, barrier -free playground enables children with disabilities to join in the fun while being protected from harmful UV rays. RDC wrapped up the project with roadway improvements, fencing, landscaping, irrigation and park furniture. The park project was a nation- wide competitive design RFP, with RDC up against some of the largest design -build contractors in the country. RDC was selected over larger firms based on its reputation for the highest quality work and its ability to adhere to strict budgets and tight time frames. RDC met with the Cityt staff for three months defining the scope of work until designs and budgets were compatible. All were ADA accessible and built to Boca Raton exacting standard for quality and longevity.
