The City of Miami Department of Parks and Recreation continues its commitment to make
educational and recreational services accessible and responsive to persons with disabilities, In an
effort to address our community needs, we are requesting A.D,A. funding for the acquisition of a
wheelchair -accessible minibus for 14 passengers and the support of a nine -week summer camp
for 14 children with disabilities.
Our objective is to expand offerings for persons with disabilities by eliminating physical and
communication barriers. In previous years, we have applied funding from the Miami-Dadle:
County A.D.A. Office towards installing handicapped accessible lifts, aqua wheelchairs,
playground equipment, constructing accessible walkways in our parks, and increasing the
number of handicapped parking spaces.
The City encourages diversity and inclusion on all levels. The summer camp and minibus will
allow individuals with disabilities to participate fully in recreational life. I look forward to a
positive response from the Office of A.D.A. Coordination as it reviews the grant proposal from
the City of Miami. _
