A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION APPROVING THE
ALLOCATION OF FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $2,400, FOR THE
REFURBISHING OF THE "MANNY MOBILE," TO BE USED AT VARIOUS TAX
PREPARATION EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF MIAMI FOR THE 2005 TAX
SEASON; ALLOCATING SAID FUNDS FROM THE MAYOR'S POVERTY INITIATIVE
ACCOUNT NO. 119005.250103.6.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") will be conducting its Second Annual Free Tax Preparation
Drive, whereby residents may receive assistance in preparing their tax returns at several sites within
the City at no cost to the residents; and
WHEREAS, the efforts in 2004 helped to bring more than 1.5 million dollars to residents and to
the local economy enabling the residents to receive tax benefits to which they were entitled; and
WHEREAS, to make access easier to these, and other free services for residents, such as the
elderly and those with no transportation, the City's 35 foot motor home, (the "Manny Mobile") will be
used at various tax preparation events through the City for the 2005 tax season; and
WHEREAS, the "Manny Mobile" requires retrofitting for use providing these City sponsored
services; and
WHEREAS, labor and materials for retrofitting amounts to $2,400, and funding is available from
the Mayor's Poverty Initiative;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and
incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Funds in the amount not to exceed $2,400, for the refurbishing of the "Manny Mobile,"
to be used at various tax preparation events throughout the City for the 2005 tax season, is approved,
with funds allocated from the Mayor's Poverty Initiative Account No. 119005.250103.6.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{1}

Footnotes:
{1}If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
