HomeMy WebLinkAboutresolutionCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.ci.miami.ti.us File Number: 05-00026 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING AN INCREASE IN COMPENSATION FOR THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES OF EDWARDS & KELCEY, INC., PREVIOUSLY APPROVED BY RESOLUTION NO. 03-256, ADOPTED MARCH 27, 2003, AND AMENDED BY RESOLUTION NO. 04-0107, ADOPTED FEBRUARY 26, 2004, FOR THE DESIGN OF THE BICENTENNIAL PARK SHORELINE STABILIZATION PROJECT ("PROJECT"), IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $292,440, FROM $616,508 TO $908,948, BASED ON THE MODIFIED SCOPE OF SERVICES FOR ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONAL SERVICES REQUIRED FOR THE DESIGN OF PHASE III OF THE PROJECT; ALLOCATING FUNDS FOR SAID INCREASE, IN A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $292,440, FOR SERVICES AND EXPENSES INCURRED BY THE CITY OF MIAMI, FROM CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT NO. 331418 ENTITLED "BICENTENNIAL PARK IMPROVEMENTS;" AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A SUPPLEMENTAL WORK ORDER AUTHORIZATION, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM FOR SAID PURPOSE; AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 03-256 AS AMENDED TO REFLECT SAID INCREASE REQUIRED FOR SAID PROJECT WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") engaged the consulting firm of Edwards & Kelcey, Inc., as assignee of Kunde, Sprecher and Associates, Inc. selected from the list of pre -approved engineering firms, pursuant to Request for Qualifications No. 02-03-63, approved pursuant to Resolution No. 02- 144, adopted February 14, 2002, for the design of the Bicentennial Park Shoreline Stabilization Project, B-3293 ("Project") and the Project, Phase II, B-30290; and WHEREAS, the City is committed to develop the Project Phase III, B-30310, that includes the stabilization of approximately 866 additional linear feet of shoreline, along the eastern end between Bicentennial Park and the American Airlines Arena; and WHEREAS, to ensure the continuity of the scope and design of the shoreline work, the City requested and received a proposal, in an amount not to exceed $292,440 for engineering services from Edwards & Kelcey, for the design of Phase III of the Project; and WHEREAS, this supplemental work will increase the total professional engineering fees in an amount not to exceed $292,440, from $616,508 to $908,948; and WHEREAS, funds for the supplemental professional engineering services and expenses are available from Capital Improvements Project No. 331418, entitled "Bicentennial Park Improvements;" NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by City of Miami Pnge1 ef3 PriliOed la4a0Q5 File Number: 05-00026 reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. An increase in compensation for the professional services of Edwards & Kelcey, Inc., previously approved by Resolution No. 03-256, adopted March 27, 2003, and amended by Resolution No. 04-0107, adopted February 26, 2004, for the design of the Project, in an amount not to exceed $292,440, from $616,508 to $908,948, based on the modified scope of services for additional professional services required for the design of Phase III of the Project, is authorized. Section 3. Section 2 of Resolution No. 03-256 is amended in the following particulars:{1} "Resolution No. 03-256 * * * Section 2. The City Manager's engagement of Edwards and Kelcey, Inc., selected from the list of pre -approved engineering firms, approved by Resolution No. 02-144, is authorized, for design development, preparation of bidding and construction documents and construction administration consulting services related to the Bicentennial Park Shoreline Stabilization Project, at specific costs determined by (1) the,scope of services required for said project, and (2) terms and conditions set forth in the agreement executed with Edwards and Kelcey, Inc. pursuant to Resolution No. 02-144, with funds in an amount not to exceed $646508 $908,948 for services and expenses incurred by the City, allocated from Capital Improvement Project No. 331418, entitled "Bicentennial Park Improvements." Section 4. Funds, in an amount not to exceed $292,440, for said increase, will be allocated from Capital improvement Project No. 331418, entitled "Bicentennial Park Improvements." Section 5. The City Manager is authorized{2} to execute a supplemental Work Order Authorization, in substantially the attached form, for said purpose. Section 6.
