Pinellas County Prepares For Hurricane Frances As Hurricane Frances continued to veer away from Pinellas County with each advisory on September 3, Pinellas County officials began planning how to assist in mutual aid efforts to help other counties that will be affected. After Hurricane Charley struck Port Charlotte on August 13, Pinellas County Emergency Management Director Gary Vickers visited Charlotte County to assess the damage and coordinate needed aid. With Hurricane Frances' landfall and impact still a question mark, efforts are under way to monitor what will be needed on the state's east coast.
