Subject: Orange Bowl Advisory Board

The Orange Bowl Advisory Board was created to serve in an advisory capacity and make recommendations
in writing to the City Commission as they relate to the Orange Bowl which shall include, but not be limited
to: (1) Identification of essential capital improvements to modernize and restore the Orange Bowl as a first
class facility; (2) Identification of funding sources to finance said capital improvements; (3) Identification of
new and enthusiastic promotional strategies to market and attract diverse events to the Orange Bowl; (4)
Recommendations for the solicitation of corporate sponsorship of the Orange Bowl facility and its
components (skyboxes, etc.); and (5) Presentation of reports of the Board's fmdings, as directed by the City
Commission.
Members shall be qualified electors of the City of Miami. The Commission may, by a four -fifths
vote, waive the requirement of a member being an elector, and/or the attendance requirement per
the City Code.
Twelve appointments are needed for members whose terms expire on or before January 24, 2005:
• Vice Chairman Gonzalez has two nominations for seats currently held by:
1. Jorge Luis Lopez
2. Lazaro Lopez
• Commissioner Regalado has two nominations for seats currently held by:
1. Max Cruz, who requires a waiver of the elector requirement, if reappointed
2. Maritza Gutierrez, who requires a waiver of the elector requirement, if reappointed
• Chairman Sanchez has two nominations for seats currently held by:
1. Theodora Hayes Long
2. Arthur Hertz, who requires a waiver of the elector requirement, if reappointed
• Commissioner Winton has two nominations for seats currently held by:
1. Ron Stone
2. Rick Rodriguez Pina
• Commissioner Allen has two nominations for seats currently held by the following
individuals who were nominated by former Commissioner Teele:
1. Dr. Laurinus Pierre, who requires a waiver of the elector requirement, if
reappointed;
2. Sam Burstyn, who requires a waiver of the elector requirement, if reappointed.
• Mayor Diaz has two appointments for seats currently held by:
1. Frank Cruz -Alvarez
2. Juan Carlos Flores
For your convenience, we are including a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy
of this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on the January 13,
2005 Commission agenda.
