Purpose of Item: The purpose of this item to transfer CDBG funds in the total amount of $175,412 from CODEC Inc. - La Palma and allocate said funds to James E. Scott Community Association, Incorporated ("JESCA") in the amount of $100,000 for public facilities and improvement activities, the amount of $35,412 to City of Miami NET office for the renovation of the Little Haiti Freedom Garden and the amount of $40,000 to Your Chef, Incorporated for economic development activities. Background Information: JESCA is a non- profit agency providing various types of services to the homeless, elderly, youth, infant/toddlers and other need based families. JESCA has requested CDBG funding in the amount of $100,000 for public facilities and improvement activities. City of Miami NET office has requested funding in the amount of $35,412 for the renovation of the Little Haiti Freedom Garden located at 62nd street and North Miami Avenue. Your Chef, Incorporated has requested CDBG funding for economic development activities for the expansion of their business creating eight full time job opportunities for City of Miami residents.
