This program has dramatically reduced court overtime costs for all new law enforcement agencies. Since the program's implementation in 1997, the Police Department reduced overtime costs by 57%, from $2,077,958 (FY '97) to $899,171 (FY '04). The system uses a victim/witness coordinator to ascertain officer, as well as, victim and witness availability, thus allowing the State Attorney's Office to plan accordingly. Officers are notified of being placed on a "standby" basis and only be called when needed. All Police Departments in Miami -Dade County are required to continue to financially support this court overtime reduction program.
