A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT,
IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, WITH MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, TO
RECEIVE AND EXTEND MUTUAL AID IN THE FORM OF LAW ENFORCEMENT
SERVICES AND RESOURCES TO ENSURE PUBLIC SAFETY AND ADEQUATELY
RESPOND TO INTENSIVE SITUATIONS, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO
NATURAL AND MANMADE DISASTERS OR EMERGENCIES AS DEFINED IN PART
1, CHAPTER 23, OF THE FLORIDA STATUTES.
WHEREAS, because of the existing and continuing possibility of the occurrence of law
enforcement problems and other natural and man-made conditions which are, or are likely to be,
beyond the control of the services, personnel, equipment, or facilities of the City of Miami ("City")
Department of Police or the participating municipal police departments; and
WHEREAS, in order to ensure that preparation of these law enforcement agencies will be
adequate to address any and all of these conditions, to protect the public peace and safety, and to
preserve the lives and property of the people of the City, and of Miami -Dade County ("County"); and
WHEREAS, the City and the County have the authority in Part 1, Chapter 23, of the Florida
Statutes, under the Florida Mutual Aid Act, to enter into a mutual aid agreement;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute a Mutual Aid Agreement, in substantially
the attached form, with the County, to receive and extend mutual aid in the form of law enforcement
services and resources to ensure public safety and adequately respond to intensive situations,
including, but not limited to, natural or manmade disasters or emergencies as defined in Part 1,
Chapter 23, of the Florida Statutes.
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
