ENCLOSURES:
This memo serves to request your authorization for a "Finding of an Emergency" and the waiver
of competitive sealed bids for additional work required in connection with the above -referenced
capital improvement project, located on NW 19th Terrace, NW 19th Street, NW 18th Terrace
between 37th Avenue and 31st Avenue. During the course of reconstructing the roadway with
pavement and drainage improvements, the Department of Capital Improvements and
Transportation found a discrepancy in the existing elevations of the design plans, necessitating
the redesign of the original pavement and drainage improvements. This further required
additional work to restore concrete sidewalks, adjust drainage structures, and modify driveway to
properly complete the job.
Because of the very tight schedule and for the convenience of the public, we recommend that the
existing contract with MEF Construction, Inc. be increased by $120,000 (from $1,595,658 to
$1,715,658) to cover the cost of this additional, unforeseen work. Funding is available under CIP
No. 313855 for this increase.
Please indicate your approval of the "Emergency Finding" to authorize the above described work
for the project. This "Emergency Finding" will be placed on the next available „ ission
agenda for ratification and approval by the City Commissi n.
