Subject: Resolution Authorizing Payment of FY'04-05 Miami -Dade County Scale Fees 2. Purpose of item: _Authorizing payment to Miami -Dade County for the disposal of solid waste materials collected in and by the City of Miami for an approximate amount of $8,160,000,00. 3. History of item: The City of Miami entered into two (2) Interlocal Agreements with Miami —Dade County for the use of the County's Solid Waste Management System Facilities for the disposal of certain solid waste materials collected in and by the City of Miami. The second Interlocal Agreement provides for the suspension or termination of the rights and obligations of the City and the County pursuant to the first Interlocal Agreement between them for the use of the County Solid Waste Management System Facilities based upon the occurrence of a "condition subsequent" which would occur upon the implementation of the City's Bedminster Seacor Services Miami Corporation ("Bedminster") agreement which provides for the disposal of municipal solid waste at the Bedminster Facility should it become operational. The Interlocal Agreements established the fees for the disposal of material at $52.25 or $62.60 per ton at the Resource Recovery, Landfill or Transfer Facilities respectively. 4. Does this item correlate with the CIP plan or Strategic Plan? If so, how? Yes, it is an annual expenditure which has been budgeted for and correlates with the,! City's Strategic plan wherein we will maintain the city's streets clean and free of debris. 5. Does this item have any effect on residents within the City of Miami? If so, how? Yes,. it ensures that the Department of Solid Waste can properly dispose of the solid waste materials collected in the City of Miami in a healthy and safe manner which is_ necessary to facilitate the ongoing quality of life issues that are key components of our strategic plan. 6. Will this item impact any specific District? If so, which one? Yes. this item affects all districts citywide. Solid waste disposal is an a sential service to all residents of the City of Miami, 7.
