A Resolution accepting a grant for the Criminal Justice Improvement Project from Miami -Dade County, Department of Human Services. Purpose of Item: A resolution establishing a new special revenue fund entitled: "Criminal Justice Record Improvement Project", accepting a grant from the Miami -Dade County Department of Human Services, in the amount of $26,634; and further authorizing the City Manager to enter into an agreement, with Miami -Dade County for the acceptance and use of grant funds. A match, in the amount of $8,886, is required of the City of Miami. Funding for the match is available from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project Numbers 690001, 690002 and 690003. History of Item: This grant funding will provide support overtime hours to cross train the Police Department Records Unit's clerks and decrease backlog reporting, with an initial strategy of improving day to day Records Unit functions. Specifically, command level personnel will cross train all personnel in the Records Unit during the upcoming year. Trained individuals will serve as backup when other key persons are absent from work. These operational efficiencies will improve the department's system of records management and facilitate the input of data into the Computer Aided Report Entry (CARE) System.
