HomeMy WebLinkAboutcover memoCITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM o: ROM: Honorable Ma r-and fibers of the 'tty Commissn Joe iota t/ Chie Administrator / City Manager DATE : SUBJECT REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: OCT 2 5 2004 FILE : Resolution Authorizing the use of GSA contract GS-35F-01407 for Training Courses for IT Equipment and Software RECOMMENDATION It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the utilization of General Services Administration (GSA) contract GS-35F-0140J, with New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, Inc. ("New Horizons"), a Non-Local/Non-Minority vendor, located at 1900 South State College Avenue, Ste. 200, Anaheim, Ca. 92806, for the provision of Training Courses for Information Technology Equipment and Software, effective through December 10, 2008, subject to any renewals or replacement contracts, to be utilized by various user departments and agencies on an as needed contract basis, with funds therefore hereby allocated in an amount not to exceed $120,000.00 from the current fiscal year operating budgets of the various user departments or agencies, as may be adjusted from time to time by the City Commission in the Annual Appropriations / Capital Improvements Ordinances, or as otherwise adjusted as permitted by law. BACKGROUND The City of Miami is seeking to continue the services of New Horizons, a qualified and experienced IT training firm, with its office located at 7757 W. Flagler, Suite 200, Miami, Florida, to provide on -going information technology (IT) training to its employees related to equipment, software, and services. The use of the above cited GSA contract would meet the IT training needs of the City for the provision of training courses for information technology equipment and software. Most recently, the Departments of Information Technology and Employee Relations have expressed an urgent and continued need for these types of educational IT services from New Horizons, particularly as the use of technology increases for its workforce. It is therefore recommended that award be made to New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, Inc., for the provision of Training Courses for Information Technology Equipment and Software, on an as needed contract basis, to be utilized by various user departments and agencies.
