HomeMy WebLinkAboutcover memoCITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM 61) 4 b(A,_Olbc), TO : FROM : Honorable Ma nd bers o he City'Commis rriola f Administrator/City Manager SEP 27 2004 DATE : FILE : FM-060.doc SUBJECT : Establish a Special Revenue Fund " FEMA/USAR Grant Award (FY 2004-06) Fund" REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: Resolution RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the attached Resolution be adopted establishing a special revenue fund entitled: "FEMA/USAR Grant Award (FY 2004-06) Fund" and appropriating funds, in the amount of $938,035, consisting of a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency ("FEMA") for the period starting September 1, 2004 through August 31, 2006. The funds will be used, as stipulated by the grant, for the acquisition of specialized equipment, provision of training, management and administration of the South Florida Urban Search and Rescue Program ("USAR"). BACKGROUND The Federal Emergency Management Agency "FEMA" has annually awarded a FEMA grant to the South Florida Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 2, for the continued operation of the Department of Fire -Rescue's USAR Program. This award is the seventh annual grant that our Task Force has been eligible to receive since FEMA officially recognized the City sponsored program on December 15, 1996. The grant award for fiscal years 2004 and 2005 is in the amount of $938,035 beginning September 1, 2004 through August 31, 2006. It is now appropriate to accept said grant award, establish a special revenue fund, and appropriate the $938,035 grant award therein for said fiscal years.
