RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the attached Resolution be adopted establishing a special revenue fund
entitled: "FEMA/USAR Grant Award (FY 2004-06) Fund" and appropriating funds, in the
amount of $938,035, consisting of a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency
("FEMA") for the period starting September 1, 2004 through August 31, 2006. The funds will be
used, as stipulated by the grant, for the acquisition of specialized equipment, provision of

BACKGROUND
The Federal Emergency Management Agency "FEMA" has annually awarded a FEMA grant to
the South Florida Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 2, for the continued operation of the
Department of Fire -Rescue's USAR Program. This award is the seventh annual grant that our
Task Force has been eligible to receive since FEMA officially recognized the City sponsored
program on December 15, 1996. The grant award for fiscal years 2004 and 2005 is in the amount
of $938,035 beginning September 1, 2004 through August 31, 2006.
It is now appropriate to accept said grant award, establish a special revenue fund, and appropriate
the $938,035 grant award therein for said fiscal years.
Fiscal Impact: None — cceptance of a Grant.
