match for a grant to support the
Pan American Seaplane
Terminal Project No. B-30121
RECOMMEJIDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the: attached Resolution,
approving the City's Local Cost Share, in an amount not to exceed $395,000, to be used as the
required local match for the City's grant application to the Florida Bureau of Historic
Preservation, Special Category Grant Program, for funding in support of the Pan American
Seaplane Terminal (City Hail), Historical and Structural Rehabilitation Project No. B-30121:
BACKGROUND
On June 1, 2004, the City of Miami submitted a grant application to the Florida Bureau of
Historic Preservation to request the maximum funding amount of $350,000 for the above -
mentioned project. Preference will be given to those projects in which the applicant documents
a commitment to contribute to the total cost of the project resources equal to or greater than the
amount of grant assistance requested. To be considered for an award in the next round of
evaluations the City of Miami has to submit documentation substantiating the availability of the
local match prior to the Florida Historical Commission meeting on November 16, 2004, where
applicants will be reviewed and funding recommendations made.
On September 21, 2004 the Bond Oversight Board approved the City's Local Cost Share in the
amount of $396,000 to be allocated from the City of Miami Historic Preservation Initiatives
Project #327001, Homeland Defense Neighborhood Improvement Bonds. However, approval
by the City Commission is also requested.
FISCAL IMPACT
This matter has a positive fiscal Impact by reducing the City's contribution for this project by the
amount of the grant award.
