HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-04-0659City of Miami Legislation Resolution: R-04-0659 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 04-00951 Final Action Date: 9/28/2004 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), APPROVING THE PROPOSED BUDGET OF THE CIVILIAN INVESTIGATIVE PANEL FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING OCTOBER 1, 2004 AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2005. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") approved and adopted the Civilian Investigative Panel ("CIP") pursuant to Ordinance No. 12188, adopted February 14, 2002; and WHEREAS, the CIP serves as an independent citizens' oversight with authority to conduct investigations related to allegations of police misconduct, reviews policies of the Department of Police, and is empowered to issue subpoenas for police related investigations; and WHEREAS, Section 11.5-10 of Ordinance No. 12188 requires that a budget, pertaining to the functions of the CIP, be approved by the City Commission; and WHEREAS, the CIP adopted the attached budget for the Fiscal Year commencing October 1, 2004 and ending September 30, 2005; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The proposed budget for the CIP, attached and incorporated, for the Fiscal Year commencing October 1, 2004 and ending September 30, 2005, is approved. Section 3. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.{1 } Footnotes: {1 } If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
